Digital cameras and mobile music or video players feature insufficient storage capacities or offer such capacity at a very high price, only. Using standard HDD's in an external enclosure gives a much more cost-efficient solution to do data back-up's or data transfers on the road. But HDD's also require good protection and cooling, when used mobile. Up to now the maximum possible for such enclosures was an aluminium hull with a plastic heat sink for improved heat dissipation.
ENERMAX' engineers have mastered this problem with the new VANGUARD enclosure. It incorporates besides the aluminium hull an integrated heat sink, not made of plastic but aluminium and a special heat conductive rubber, to make usage of the main area of the housing itself by creating direct contact in between housing and HDD. These two designs give a drastic increase in heat dissipation, which results in about 3° Celsius / 5.4° Fahrenheit per unit totalling in an astonishing 6° Celsius / 10.8° Fahrenheit lower HDD temperature compared to other enclosures and concepts.
